I've had a few people recommend Tepper when they learn that I read contemporary fantasy based on fairy tales and folk lore, and every time it's happened, I'd been left with the feeling that Tepper is probably not for me. Sometimes it's due to the person recommending her, and sometimes it's the descriptions.
